The Comrades

Caden and Buster, they’re best friends
And playing together most of their time spends
Running and jumping and romping around
Wrestling and rolling around on the ground

Buster’s best athletic trick is to run
The wind in his face to him is great fun
He likes it the best when Caden joins in
And though Caden tries hard he never can win

The sport Caden loves best is basketball
But Buster, not caring for that sport at all,
Just jumps around when they’re at the gym
Caden gets free shots cause Buster fouls him

It’s not that Buster is lacking in skill
The roar of the fans sure gives him a thrill
Buster can jump up as high as the roof
But can’t seem to make the ball go through the hoop

Caden and Buster they get along fine
They stay out of trouble the most of the time
But once in a while, in spite of it all
Deep into trouble they’re both bound to fall

Buster keeps tearing the cushions to tethers
Leaving the lawn all covered with feathers
And Caden likes donuts, he’ll eat them all
Not leaving any for Poppie at all

Caden’s big dream is purposing one day
To be the star player in the NBA
He’ll hold the record, most points of all time
Of athletic wear he’ll have his own line

But aspirations of Buster are different by far
His only dream is of being a star
Identity hidden behind sunglasses
Ever disguised, avoiding the masses

When the day is exhausted the pals need a rest
These are the times that Buster likes best
There on the porch both stretched out in the swing
He contentedly listens while Caden sings
