When I Was Young<\/h2>\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

When I was young the sky was bluer
Birds sang clearer, the day was newer
Like baby\u2019s breath the air was so sweet
Innocent sleep when the day was complete

Daddy would fix it when it would break
Time to console me Daddy would take
When I faced monsters, he\u2019d take my hand
There was no monster too big for that man.

The wind in the trees made music sweet
Mama\u2019s lap was the very best seat
Her lullaby could ease every care
As she hummed softly, smoothing my hair

Way back then in days of my youth
Lie was a lie, truth was the truth
There was no gray only black or white 
Just right and wrong only left or right
 
No breaking line, you waited your turn
Pay you received was pay that you earned
No consolation for a lost race
Played by the rules or consequence faced

Untold factors, different perspectives
No changing the rules or directives
Height did not raise nor lower the bar
Prestige, power, judgement did not mar

Remember when the sky wasn\u2019t gray?
Storm hinting clouds just melted away?
Oh, how I long for a time such as then-
To go back when I was young again.
