Welcome to Rythmic Chimney. I am a retired elementary teacher. After teaching third grade for 17 years, I had the opportunity to work with intellectually gifted students for my remaining teaching career. One of our routine activities was journaling. My students would write for the first five or ten minutes of class. Sometimes I would give them a topic but most of the time they were just to fill up the page with their thoughts. While they wrote I would write too. I was amazed at what came out of my head on to the page. This daily writing was the catalyst for my interest in poetry. It became a challenge to put thoughts into the structure and confinement of a poem. It seemed to make them more concentrated and less diluted by unnecessary information. Whether or not my endeavors are successful, nonetheless, they have been enjoyable. I hope you get some enjoyment from them as well.
